U-3ARC officially a member of Associate Society Alliance (AASA) AASA.

Madi Sakandé gave a presentation on the theme “Stronger Together : How Male Allies Are Contributing to the Advancement of Women in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Industry.” He shared U-3ARC’s experience in supporting African women’s initiatives in the industry. U-3ARC’s “Dr. CHARITY KPABEP AWARD 2024” competition for African women active in the RAC industry is a good illustration of this and demonstrates U-3ARC’s commitment to promoting women in the RAC industry, as well as to valuing the technical knowledge of African women.

U-3ARC is now officially a member of AASA

This is great news for African professionals in the RAC sector. The pan-African organization U-3ARC is now a member of the ASHRAE Associate Society Alliance (AASA), which is an international society of over 50,000 heating, refrigeration and air conditioning professionals from over 132 countries dedicated to serving humanity and promoting a sustainable world.

This is a MUST for U-3ARC as this affiliation creates even more opportunities for African REFRIGERATION professionals. U-3ARC’s membership in the ASHRAE Associate Society Alliance (AASA) offers major strategic benefits for the African industrial refrigeration sector:

I. Access to global standards and innovations

  • ASHRAE Standards: Alignment of African practices with international standards (e.g. safety standards for flammable fluids such as ammonia).
  • Technology monitoring: Privileged access to research on [low GWP fluids] and solar/cold hybrid systems.

II. Strengthening local capacities

  • Certification training: Programs adapted to African needs (maintenance of CO₂ systems, management of HFC fluids in the reduction phase).
  • South-South exchanges: Collaboration with Asian and Latin American associations already members

III. Economic opportunities

  • Joint advocacy: International funding for training centers
  • Access to global data: Better anticipation of restrictions on HFCs (Kigali amendment)
  • Participation in ASHRAE working groups: Adaptation of standards to African climate realities
